Thousands of Freeport Workers Strike Work, Jonan: Not My Business

JAKARTA – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignatius Jonan does not want to know about the strike action affairs carried out by the Leader of the PT Freeport Indonesia Workers Unions, Energy and Mining Workers Union Units (PUK SPKEP SPSI PTFI). Because the strike action by Freeport Indonesia workers is an internal company problem.

“It’s none of my business,” said Jonan, at the National Gas Forum, at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/5).

He asked the management of PT Freeport Indonesia to intervene in solving the problems with its workers. Because he did not want to mix it up.

“It’s up to Freeport how to handle their internal affairs,” said Jonan.

Previously, Team Advocacy Workers All Indonesia, Mimika Papua, Tri Puspital said the strike carried out by 7 thousand Freeport workers was conducted from May 1, 2017 to May 30, 2017. But did not rule out the action will continue if the demands are not met.
